Two High School Graduates Receive Shapiro Community Service Award

Congregation members Eva Aranovitch and Noah Hammond were recently awarded the Arnold Shapiro Community Service Award from Congregation Etz Chaim in Biddeford. A recognition of outstanding dedication, leadership, and service to the York County Jewish community, the award includes a cash scholarship to support college expenses. Eva, a recent graduate of Biddeford High School, has long been an active member of Congregation Etz Chaim. After celebrating her bat mitzvah there in 2020, she was a three-year participant in the congregation’s Teen (confirmation) Class. Volunteers on the Library Committee have been hard at work revitalizing our beloved Samuel Osher Memorial Library. It’s been cleaned, reorganized, and is now accessible online! Use the online library to search and browse our collection of Jewish books.  Come into the library during scheduled events and a library committee volunteer will you help you check out your books.

CEC Launches Redesigned Website

Congregation Etz Chaim is pleased to announce the launch of its new and improved website. Still accessible at the same URL, www.etzchaimme.org, the new site has been a year and a half in the making and was unveiled at the synagogue’s annual Chanukah party on Dec. 15, 2024.
