How to spell “Chanukah”

and other Essential Jewish Knowledge

Congregation Etz Chaim

In Person Only

January 5 - June 22
(Every other week)

12-1:30 pm

Shalom / שלום!

I will be teaching “How to spell Chanukah and other Essential Jewish Knowledge” at our synagogue on Sunday, January 5.  It will be an opportunity to read, talk & discuss Jewish values, foundational beliefs, holiday history & observances, Jewish history, and an introduction to the Hebrew language and Israel. We will meet in person from 12-1:30 pm and classes will continue every other week until June 22 (12 classes).  That may sound like a lot, but we will cover a lot of material.

This is an adult education class:  There will be no tests, exams, quizzes, or grades.  Writing may help students to process the information, but it will be for their eyes only unless they choose to share it with me or the class for feedback.  There will be guest speakers a few times through the session and ample opportunities to participate in additional synagogue services or events.

The classes and the required books will be paid by the synagogue’s Cantor’s Discretion Fund.  This means there will be no set cost to each participant.  However, please make a donation as generously as you are able, send it to the synagogue, and indicate that it is for the Cantor’s Fund to replenish it for someone else in the future.
For anyone interested in conversion, this class fulfills the requirement of basic knowledge about Judaism (and more, actually…).

Would you be interested in this?  Space is limited in order to keep the class small, so register soon!
Please contact me if you would like to talk more about it.
Looking forward to beginning in January!
