There are several places in our Shabbat Service where the custom is to silently read or pray from the prayerbook.
What do we do? Do we silently read the Hebrew prayer? Read the Hebrew text? Silently read the Hebrew from the transliteration (the sounding out of the Hebrew using familiar English) letters?
Oftentimes, we don’t stop to think and plan about this outside the service, so we spend the entire time during the service trying to figure out what to do/say.
Intent:
Taking time outside of service to improve our personal prayer, planning how to say it before we are in the middle of a service.
Planning the words we want to say or deciding to allow ourselves to take a quiet, meditative time for prayer before we are in the middle of service.
